Buy — 4,000 W continuous quiet inverter with e-start and CO sensor; not 4,500 continuous; 120 V only; ~209 lb

For quiet mid-to-high home or RV backup when you need about 4,000 W continuous inverter power, key electric start, and a 30 A locking outlet — not the 4,500 peak on the carton, and not a 240 V house feed.

Exact marketing name EF4500iSE on Yamaha Motorsports USA. Generator Bible also lists alternate stock code EF45ISEZ. Not the live Yamaha EF2200iS (1,800 W continuous class), not a dual-fuel open-frame, and not a 120/240 V standby. Yamaha’s US page still lists the model; third-party inventory notes the line is out of production — buy only if a dealer still has a sealed unit with the current CO-sensor plate.

What it is

A closed-frame portable inverter generator: Yamaha MZ360, 357 cc, gasoline only, key electric start (no recoil backup on this SKU), economy control, Oil Watch low-oil shutoff, fuel gauge, hour meter / power meter, Noise Block enclosure, and a CO sensor that shuts the engine down on elevated carbon monoxide. Yamaha’s AC plate class: 120 V, 4,500 W peak / 4,000 W continuous (rated). Global Yamaha sheet: 4.0 kVA rated / 4.5 kVA max, 7.4 h at rated load and 15.2 h at 1/4 load with economy on.

Tank: 4.5 gal (≈17 L). Noise on the US specs table: 58–60 dBA (1/4 load to rated) (features page says 58–64). Dry weight on Yamaha USA: 209 lb. Footprint about 30.7 × 24.3 × 27.2 in. Receptacles (second-source panel map): 20 A 125 V duplex (5-20R) and 30 A 125 V locking (L5-30R) — no factory TT-30R. Transport kit standard; wireless remote optional (global sheet). Warranty class: 3-year limited on Yamaha USA. Clean inverter output (Generator Bible: <3% THD).

MSRP: not published (Yamaha USA lists dealer pricing only, checked 15 Oct 2026). Links: no affiliate.

What it will actually run

Running watts first: 4,000 W continuous. Surge second: 4,500 W peak.

Will run

  • Fridge/freezer with comfortable start margin
  • Modem/router/ONT and LED lighting for a long tank
  • Furnace blower on a sized path
  • Microwave and coffee maker together with fridge if you watch the meter
  • TV/computers on clean inverter power
  • An RV air conditioner and a microwave together (Yamaha's claim) when other draws are off

Skip, or measure first

  • 240 V well pumps, dryers, or dual-leg central air — this panel is 120 V only
  • Hard motor starts that need more than ~500 W above running
  • One-hand carry — 209 lb dry even with wheels
  • Whole-home automatic standby

Verdict

Buy for a quiet mid-to-high inverter when the job is fridge, network, furnace blower, selective RV AC, and kitchen bursts on honest 4,000 W continuous, with electric start and CO shutoff. Not a “4,500-watt continuous” machine, Not 240 V, and Not a light carry. If the plate is not EF4500iSE, leave this page.
