Buy — 2,800 W continuous quiet inverter with e-start and CO-MINDER; not 3,000 continuous; 120 V only; ~131 lb

Honda EU3000iS pack shot

For quiet mid-load home or RV backup when you need about 2,800 W continuous inverter power, electric start, and a 30 A locking outlet — not the 3,000 on the carton, and not a 240 V house feed.

Exact full model name EU3000IS1AN on Honda’s current US sheet. Marketing short name EU3000iS. Not the live Honda EU2200i (1,800 W continuous class), not Honda EU7000iS (5,500 W continuous / 120/240 V), and not a dual-fuel open-frame. Honda marks this SKU not for sale in California — if your carton is a California twin, use that nameplate’s sheet instead.

What it is

A closed-frame portable inverter generator: Honda GX200, 196 cc, gasoline only, electric start plus recoil backup, Eco-Throttle, Oil Alert, USDA spark arrestor, and CO-MINDER™ auto-shutoff on the current US page. Honda’s AC plate: 120 V, 3,000 W max (25 A) / 2,800 W rated (23.3 A). The owner’s manual is blunt: power between rated and maximum is for no more than 30 minutes; continuous duty stays at 2.8 kVA.

Tank: 3.4 gal. Runtime on Honda’s page: 6.9 h at rated load, 19.6 h at 1/4 load. Noise: 57 dB(A) at rated load, 50 dB(A) at 1/4 load. Dry weight: 130.7 lb. Footprint about 25.9 × 17.6 × 22.0 in. Receptacles: 20 A 125 V duplex and 30 A 125 V locking (L5-30R class). Parallel outlets for a second identical EU3000iS with Honda’s optional cable kit — manual rated parallel 5.6 kVA continuous / 6.0 kVA max. Wheel kit is optional, not in the crate. Residential warranty class: 3 years; commercial 12 months on Honda’s page.

Honda lists MSRP $2,399* (powerequipment.honda.com, checked 14 Oct 2026). Links: no affiliate.

What it will actually run

Running watts first: 2,800 W continuous. Surge second: 3,000 W max, short duty only (≤30 minutes per the manual).

Will run

  • Fridge/freezer (watch compressor start against the thin 200 W surge margin)
  • Modem/router/ONT and LED lights for a long tank
  • Furnace blower on a sized path
  • Microwave or coffee maker in bursts
  • TV/computers on clean inverter power
  • Many 13,500 BTU RV air conditioners when other loads are off — Honda’s own applications list names that class

Skip, or measure first

  • 240 V well pumps, dryers, or dual-leg central air — this panel is 120 V only
  • Hard motor starts that need more than ~200 W above running (small compressors and some tools fail the surge budget)
  • One-hand carry — 130.7 lb dry without a wheel kit
  • California retail — Honda marks not for sale in California
  • Whole-home automatic standby
  • Parallel only with a second identical EU3000iS and Honda’s kit; do not mix models

Verdict

Buy for a quiet mid-load inverter when the job is fridge, network, furnace blower, and selective RV AC on honest 2,800 W continuous, with electric start and CO-MINDER. Not a “3,000-watt continuous” machine, not 240 V, and not a light carry. Size motors to the thin surge margin. If the plate is not EU3000IS1AN / EU3000iS, leave this page.
